🧠A Stream of Consciousness
Write with freedom and see the work that you produce become better.
This week, I was reading an article from Tim Denning about writing a conscious stream of prose. Basically, not thinking too hard, but writing as and what comes into your mind.
Many people speak of this concept and how they have produced some of their best work by just typing and seeing where it leads them. In fiction writing, this is the difference between being a planner and a prankster. Do you have a plan for every step your characters take, or do you let the characters lead you?
Interesting story; my current novel is written from two different points of view. The first point of view I had planned meticulously. I knew exactly what was going to happen and when. The second point of view I had no idea about; I let the character lead me. I enjoyed writing the second person much more and think the story is better. Perhaps I am a prankster at heart.
It also makes me think about this newsletter. Every weekend I write to you, rarely do I know what I will say; although I have a topic in mind, this is one of my favourite pieces of writing every week.
So a big thank you for being here and listening to my random musings about a writer's life.
If you enjoy this email, please share it so that more readers can find it.
Until next week stay safe
