I saw a story this week that made me think. H
ow important is it to remain professional no matter what happens?
An author took to TikTok this week to call a reviewer of her book a b---h. Now you would have thought for this reaction that it was a terrible review this person left. But it wasn’t; it clearly stated how excellent the book was and how much she enjoyed it.
The problem was that she only gave her a four-star rating, not five. It apparently ruined her review ratio. What ruined her review average was her actions; after seeing the video, one-star reviews flooded in.
Oh, dear. This, though, should make us all think as writers. Anyone who has published a book knows how hard it is to get reviews. Everyone is like gold dust. However, this woman had not only read the book but taken the time to write a review for the author.
The writer should have known better than to take to TikTok and leave such a vicious message. Unfortunately, she forgot to be professional. No matter where the interaction is, on what platform, remain professional; otherwise, the effects could be as harmful as they were for this writer.
There are too many people treating others like shit on social media. If you wouldn’t say something to a person’s face, don’t say it on social media.
If you enjoy this email, please share it so more readers can find it.
Until next week stay safe
Sam 😊
