Which is your favourite book format? Is it a paperback, hardcover, audio or eBook? For me, it has to be a paperback because and don't hate me; I add marginalia to my books. Marginalia is the process of adding notes and thoughts to your books in the margin.Β
This process helps me enjoy a book in more depth. I participated in a four-month book quest with three strangers many years ago. The premise was straightforward: we all pick a book, read it and add marginalia. At the end of the month, we sent that book to the next person.Β
In four months, my book returned to me with three reader's additional inputs; it makes the book so much better reading everyone's thoughts on the book.Β
Now, I am not a complete book killer; I have a collection of beautiful hardcovers that I would never dream about writing in, but with research and paperbacks, I do.Β
There is another reason that I prefer paperbacks. Recently, I wrote about the benefits of using aΒ pen rather than a keyboardΒ and how slowing down can help with writer's block and remembering facts. This works for books as well.Β
Sometimes, having a paperback and working out what is important for highlighting what you want to add comments to is much better with a physical book. It is the same concept as pen and paper; it slows the reading down, so you take more in.
So, which is your preferred book format? If you use audiobooks, how do you take notes from them? Please help me.Β

The Abandoned Beauty
Rose threw her legs out of the bed for the fifth time in one night. The baby wouldn't sleep for more than forty-five minutes. As soon as Rose drifted off, the screams woke her again. Rose had never felt tiredness like it. There were times during the last couple of weeks when she started hallucinating.
The Truth About Writing
You are never going to be rich as a writer. You might counter and say look at Stephen King and JK Rowling; they have made it big. They are the top of a vast iceberg. Below them are thousands of writers who have not made enough money to live on. Even JRR Tolkien taught students at University.
Kindle. 2000+ books on mine.
Audiobooks. I love to be read to, and always have. I knit and listen to books three or four hours a day.
