The best part of writing is experimenting. Over the years, I have tried many experiments with social media and writing. This month is no different.
Spurred on by Ray Bradbury's book, I wanted to reconnect with the passion of writing rather than all about publishing and money.
I have all but walked away from Medium. There are too many bad feelings about the platform for me to be active there anymore. I still read my favourites but deleted the app on my phone this week; it just doesn't feel good being there anymore.
So, this month is vital to stop the imposter syndrome and get some love back for writing—the experiment to have no plan of what I will publish. For years, I have had a weekly content plan on which sites to publish. This month, I am winging it.
If I see a story I want to write, I am writing it. I will then publish it when it is ready. So be it, if that results in three history articles in a row. I am committing to only two things: this newsletter every Sunday and a locked post for my subscribers on Murder Mayhem UK.
If I want to write about books, I will; if I want to write about cuddly cats, I will—complete freedom. Don't look out for the cat articles.
We all need this sometimes—the time to sit and chill whilst falling in love with the craft of writing again. I am excited for September.
What are your plans for the month ahead?

Quote of the week
Writing is a form of personal freedom. It frees us from the mass identity we see all around us. In the end, writers will write not to be outlaw heroes of some underculture but mainly to save themselves, to survive as individuals. - Don DeLillo

How My Niece and Her Dog Inspired My First Story
Over the years, I have written many stories and articles. I have enjoyed every minute, from short stories to explorations of true crime cases. All this started from a children's book I wrote fifteen years ago. When I thought about this article, I realised my first book is fifteen years old. I know this because the story's star was my baby niece and her d…
Excellent, Sam, as always!
