This month, I have been working on my sleep routine. Along with exercise and good food, sleep is vital for our health. I try to get eight hours a night. This is not always continuous with three young children, but I try.
I also allot time to reading within my routine. Reading is not only my hobby but an area that helps my development more than anything. Having said this, I tend to read a more relaxed novel at that time of night as I rarely have the brain cells to take notes and read in depth.
However, I was lying there last night thinking this is all well and good until insomnia strikes. I have suffered from insomnia on and off for several years, and as I get older, this gets worse. Last night, no routine was going to get me my eight hours. Stressing about it would have only made it worse.
Last week, I spoke about writing routines, and this is the thing with any routine that you set yourself: Sometimes, it just doesn't happen. We all have lives, some of us have children, and routines can not always be achieved. Stressing about it will not help and may make it worse.
On those days when everything goes wrong, you don't sleep eight hours; you don't write a word, don't beat yourself up. Be kind to yourself, have a cup of coffee / tea / wine, and sit back and look at your achievements. They start the new day with a new energy and smash those routines.

Until next week, stay safe

Weekly Three
It Happened One Adventure, Edward Anderson - I love everything Ed writes so I am looking forward to making this one of my summer reads.
Anne Frank’s Diary - This week Anne Frank would have celebrated her ninety fifth birthday. It is hard to underestimated the effect her story has had on generations. To mark her birthday I started a project with my English class on her. I read the book when I was young, but am really enjoying this reread.
One Day, David Nichols - I finished the audiobook of this, this week and what a ride. This tells the story of Dexter and Emma from the same day every year for twenty years. It is certainly going to be on my top 5 this year so I would recommend checking it out.
There is no single definition of success. For some it's spending every moment of the day with family. For others, it's making money and going on expensive vacations. - James White
