Do you remember everything you read? I answered no to that question until the beginning of the year when I decided to improve my note-taking skills.Â
My biggest change is to write what I have learned in my own words. I do not copy chunks of writing down; I write it in my own words. Over the months, the added advantage was that I was also practising my writing.Â
I think of it as writing a mini-article. Writing this lets me measure whether I have understood the concept well enough. Using the Feynman Technique, I measure whether I can describe the concept in language that is easy for anyone to understand.Â
If the answer is yes, then I have learned from the book. If the answer is no, I need to revisit the concepts until I can. Some of these mini-essays may be the basis of future articles, increasing my idea creation.Â
This is where my lovely readers come in; over the next couple of weeks, I will share some of these with you on Notes. Those that resonate with you I will turn into longer articles.Â
