🛒 Marketing Your Novels
The hardest part of being a writer is getting someone to buy your book.
As an author, I constantly struggle with advertising my books. A chat on Threads proved that I was not the only one. Many indie authors also struggle with advertising their books.
Most writers need help with marketing. TikTok is the best place to advertise your books, but not everyone wants to be on camera or dance silly jigs, so how do you advertise your book in this case?
Writer after writer spoke to me about the same problem. When asked what their biggest problem was with writing their books, every one of them answered the same marketing.
There is no magic formula for marketing, but a few tips will help.
1. Advertise the book with a quality cover and quality artwork. Place the book in the woods or on a beach rather than just a picture of your cover; this will evoke an emotional response in your reader.
2. Change all your profile pictures to this image for a short time
3. Include a link to your book everywhere in your email signature.
4. Share parts of the book process with your followers, let them vote on book covers, and share inserts that didn't make it to the book. Use social media to share your process.
5. Run a competition for the best review, and give away a voucher or promise to use your readers' names in your next book if they give you a review.
In addition, I have launched The Book Chronicles, a newsletter dedicated to books, not just books but to Indie authors. You will find a bookshop with links to Indie books on the site. You will also find interviews with Indie authors to help you get to know them.
Whether you are a writer or a reader, there is something on this site for you.
If you enjoy this email, please share it so more readers can find it.
Until next week, stay safe.
