💻 Procrastination Not Productivity
Many of us can use productivity as a way to procrastinate. The lengths writers go to not to write.
Over the months, I have spoken a lot about designing a second brain; somewhere you can keep ideas and information that will later inform your articles. The designing of the system can be almost as attractive as collecting the data. But, unfortunately, this constantly redesigning your system is procrastination hidden as productivity.Â
There are various packages for this, including Obsidian, Apple Notes and Notion; I have spoken before about the system I use. However, I always say you can’t beat a pad and pen. So regardless of the package you use, there comes a time when you have to stop redesigning and start using the system.Â
I know I felt like that at all; it is a problem I have had for months. I always wanted to try something new with my second brain, so I redesigned it regularly; I was not sure I could follow my advice and stop. That was when I introduced the one-day-a-month rule.
One day a month, I allow myself to tweak my Obsidian vault. Ideas I have had all month can be actioned on this one day. I still get the joy of redesigning my system, but not to the extent that I don’t get the time to use it for idea creation. This could work for you if you are like me and constantly like to change.Â
How do you store your creative ideas?

I always carry a book, a pen and a notepad, and I always enjoy my solitude and temporary captivity. - Austin Kleon (Steal Like an Artist)
Books I'm reading
Before I tell you about the books I have read this month, I want to introduce you all to Blinkest. Blinkest is a summary service for popular non-fiction books. Without having to read the whole book you get the key points from it. As a bookworm I do not believe this service will stop me reading, but it is a brilliant way to get a snippet of the book to ensure I would be interested in the full version.
