⏳ Time Our Biggest Challenge
How do you fit in everything you do and have a family? This is the question I am asked the most, here I answer it.
Do you ever struggle to find time for writing? As a writer and a parent, I know all too well how difficult it can be to balance the demands of everyday life with the need to produce quality content. However, I have found some ways to make the most of my time and overcome this obstacle. In this email, I will share some of my tips and tricks for making time for writing.
Firstly, I recommend creating a weekly task sheet. On Sunday, take some time to sit down and plan your work for the week ahead. This can be made easier by deciding on topics to publish on specific days. This helps to ensure that you are progressing towards your goals and can help you avoid feeling overwhelmed.
It is important to keep your to-do list manageable. If your list is too long, you may feel overwhelmed and less motivated to work through it. Instead, be realistic about what you can achieve daily, and celebrate your accomplishments. Look out for my article this week on writing productive to-do lists.
Another tip is to schedule writing time in your diary. When you make an appointment with yourself to write, you are less likely to break it. This also helps your family and friends to know when you are busy and unavailable. Consistency is vital, so stick to your scheduled writing time as much as possible.
Some writers suggest getting up an hour earlier and writing before the rest of the household wakes up. While this can be effective for some, it's not for everyone. I prefer to get a good night's sleep and write during the day when I feel most alert and productive. It's essential to find what works best for you.
Lastly, find the time when you can. Eliminate distractions like TV, social media, or games on your phone. Consider investing in a Bluetooth keyboard to make it easier to write on the go. If all else fails, grab a pen and paper and write whenever and wherever possible. Even small pockets of time can add up and make a big difference.
Remember, the obstacle of time should never be an excuse not to write. You can progress towards your writing goals and achieve huge rewards by making the most of your time. Start small and take it one step at a time. And don't forget to enjoy the process!
I hope you find these tips helpful in making time for your writing. Do you have any tips or tricks of your own to share? Let me know in the comments below.
