The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed there was no newsletter last week. It was very simple: I was poorly and didn't feel like writing. All the marketers on Substack will tell you that it is a terrible way to run a business. They may be right, but this is not a business.
I removed the paid tier from this newsletter because this is a place where I talk to friends, not where I make money. If you buy me a book off my wishlist to support me, I would be more than grateful; who doesn't like a free book? But overall, I don't want the pressure of feeling I have to write here; I want to enjoy it.
Many of us have been there. We put money before the enjoyment of writing, and we become downhearted when we don't make money. You have to love writing; otherwise, there are plenty of easier ways to make money, some even legal.
Next week in the UK is the school holidays, and I am taking the children away for a week, so there will be no newsletter. However, check out my notes, where I will share updates. With my three, there is never a dull moment.
Happy Easter, all of you celebrate, and thank you for hanging out with me every Sunday.
If you enjoy this email, please share it so more readers can find it. If you need advice or writing tips, I would love to hear them. Drop them in the comments or email me by hitting reply to this newsletter.
Until next week, stay safe
Sam 😊
