🤔 All Writers are Inspired by Someone
Did you know even Shakespeare had a list of writers that inspired him?
Most professions require forms of inspiration. The creative arts more than most. It is not always the authors we read that inspire us.Â
As a teenager, I was obsessed with Shakespeare. Shakespeare stated that his inspiration came from Roman poet Ovid, Chaucer and Christopher Marlow. I would not say that he inspired me, though.Â
For me, inspiration has to come from those who write books that I want to write. For the artists amongst you, it might be those who paint pictures in your style.Â
Inspiration does not always have to be from other creatives. As you ponder this question, you might say that your inspiration is your family or an elderly family member who used to scribble poetry.Â
The universal truth is that we all need someone to inspire us. Writing is not always easy, but it is a job for many of us. You have to make yourself sit and create even on the hardest of days.Â
Even if you write a bestselling novel, you will be back at the keyboard writing your next novel before you know it. None of us have the ambition to be a one-hit wonder.Â
I suggest you keep an electronic or printed file to turn to on those difficult days when inspiration has packed up and headed for the beach. Look at this file when you need it.
Remember, someone inspires all writers. Jane Austin stated Shakespeare as her inspiration, and Mary Shelley was inspired to write Frankenstein by Lord Byron.Â
**So, who or what inspires you to create?**
